Ethiopian Airlines Celebrating 70th Anniversary

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest, fast growing and most profitable airline in Africa is pleased to announce celebration of its 70th anniversary since its inception on April 8, 1946.  This milestone event runs parallel with 30 years of Delhi operation. Ethiopian made its maiden flight to New Delhi as far back as 6th July 1966 which was suspended when Mumbai operations commenced and reinstated later. The flight was a milestone between our two nations.

 

Ethiopian Airlines gives seamless connection between Africa and India for travelers. There is an efficient flight network connecting the two continents and during this remarkable event Ethiopian Airlines in pleased to announce the addition of a second flight daily. These flights arrive at Addis Ababa in the morning and a little after midday for a seamless connection to and from Africa.

 

Regional Director India Sub Continent, Mr. Tadesse Tilahun said, “Ethiopian Airlines is already operating double daily flights out of Mumbai. Now we have Delhi joining the bandwagon. With double daily flights out of Delhi from March 27, 2016, the capacity ex India has increased by 100 percent. Way to go for the airline.”

 

Ms. Mahlet Kebede, Manager Traffic and Sales Manager New Delhi said “Any passenger flying Ethiopian on this route is indirectly taking part in a history of 30 years of service. These flights have helped create business possibilities and convenient connectivity.” She added, “If you look into the history of Ethiopian flights to New Delhi, you are leafing through decades of networking, close businesses relationships and shared success stories.”

 

Ethiopian connects New Delhi and Mumbai twice daily with more than 90 international destinations in five continents. In addition to Ethiopian airlines’ main goal of connecting Ethiopian and Indian capitals, Ethiopian creates seamless travel between its remaining 50 destinations in Africa. This is the largest passenger network in the continent with double daily arrivals. Ethiopian is operating from Ethiopian hubs, Addis Ababa, Lome and Lilongwe, following a multiple hub strategy to make connections between destinations in Africa and India smooth and business friendly.

 

Ethiopian Airlines currently has the youngest and most modern fleet with an average fleet age of five years which is a clear testimonial of Ethiopian focus on the environment.

 

Amongst the notable milestones of Ethiopian, the introduction of the B787 Dreamliner as the first to be owned and operated by an African carrier attracts attention. Ethiopian is the largest operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with 13 such ultra-modern aircraft in its operation and additional six on order. Ethiopian will also receive its first extra wide body A350 XWB this year.
