The new BMW M5
Every detail of the new BMW M5 expresses uncompromising M dynamism while fitting seamlessly into the flowing silhouette of a classic saloon. From the dynamically modelled front with large air inlets via the aerodynamically optimised M wing mirrors, it draws the eye to the prominent side sills, behind which the powerful rear crouches as if ready to pounce. A particularly striking innovation is the M kidney grille featuring the M5 logo between the Adaptive LED Headlights. The LED rear lights are another dynamic highlight, demonstrating how the new BMW M5 is absolutely unmistakable, even from behind.
Driver and vehicle become a perfect team in the cockpit of the new BMW M5. Each of the M-specific controls is ergonomically placed for optimum access. The hallmark M feeling is also conveyed by the M leather steering wheel, whose new design likewise takes visual cues from the double-spoke wheels. The interior has also gained an increase in volume of the storage compartment under the armrest in the centre console area. The control display of the standard-fitted iDrive operating system now features chrome trim on the sides.
The new BMW M5 is driven by the M TwinPower Turbo eight-cylinder petrol engine. This is the most powerful of all the BMW production engines and is distinguished by its enormous performance, outstanding power delivery, running smoothness and free-revving character. And when the new BMW M5 accelerates, with its torque of up to 680Nm, it simply takes your breath away with the scintillating output of 412 kW/560 hp. The boost in performance pushes the new BMW M5 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds for the ultimate adrenalin kick.
The seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission with Cruise Control provides higher shifting and driving comfort through finely tuned gearing and seamless gear changes. At any time, in any gear, the transmission collaborates perfectly with the engine, enabling it to develop its full power and efficiency.
The shift paddles on the M leather steering wheel put the seven gears of the M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic right there at your fingertips - for absolute control.
Further, the Active M Differential at the rear axle and suspension technology precisely tuned to the performance curve with racing know-how, guarantee outstanding dynamic driving performance.
The new BMW M5 with state-of-the-art safety features provides maximum support in any situation with air bags, Active M Differential, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic mode, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Active Protection with Attentiveness Assistant and Active headrests (front).
With BMW EfficientDynamics, the new BMW M5 sets benchmark when it comes to the performance-to-fuel-consumption ratio equipped with a comprehensive technology package including features such as Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Automatic Start/Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering, 50:50 Weight Distribution and many other innovative technologies.
The further extended range of features from BMW ConnectedDrive also ensures that the new BMW M5 is in pole position in its sector when it comes to intelligent connectivity. These include the next generation of BMW iDrive (the on-board Driver Information System) with touch controller and handwriting recognition, BMW Navigation Professional (integrated Global Positioning System - GPS) with 25.9 cm colour display with 3D maps, full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific views, connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices, Harman Kardon Surround Sound system and BMW Apps. Park Distance Control (PDC) rear and front along with rear view camera come as standard features.
