Fortis Escorts Wins - Best Single Specialty Hospital - Cardiology

PR Newswire | 26 Dec, 2013
NEW DELHI: Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, the first fully dedicated cardiac care facility in India, reasserted its leadership by winning the 'Best Single Specialty Hospital - Cardiology' title at the prestigious ICICI Lombard CNBC TV18 Healthcare Awards, 2013. This is the second time in a row that the institute has won the award, outperforming over 3,000 hospitals and healthcare service providers across India.

Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairperson, Planning Commission presented the award to Dr. Raajiv Singhal, Vice President, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute at a ceremony held in New Delhi.

Dr. Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Delhi, said, "The Institute has been at the forefront of redefining cardiac care, not only in India but across the world. We are confident that our pool of talented and highly experienced clinicians and support staff, state-of-the-art technology and innovations will continue to push the boundaries of cardiac care practices."

Dr. Raajiv Singhal, Vice President, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Delhi, said, "Over the years, the Institute has pioneered and set benchmarks in all areas of cardiology, including bypass surgery, minimally invasive surgery (robotics), invasive and non-invasive cardiology, paediatric cardiology and paediatric cardiac surgery. This award has come at a very special time as we celebrate 25 years of life-saving cardiac care in India. The award has infused us with renewed energy, spurring us to take cardiac care to greater heights."

Added Dr. Seth, "With over 3 million deaths owing to cardiovascular diseases every year, India is set to be the 'heart disease capital of the world', in a few years. It is estimated that by 2020, cardiovascular disease will be the cause of over 40 per cent deaths in India. With lifestyle changes such as sedentary jobs, unhealthy diets, high stress jobs and addictions like smoking and tobacco chewing, there is a growing onus on each one of us to educate consumers on the need for a healthy lifestyle and offer a robust system across a full continuum of cardiac care, from prevention to treatment of cardiovascular diseases."

The India Healthcare Awards comprised a robust multi-phase methodology developed by the Indian Marketing Research Bureau (IMRB) to shortlist India's finest healthcare providers. A jury comprising esteemed representatives of clinical, pharmaceutical and other allied industries evaluated consumer and doctor ratings to select winners across different categories.
