Bluegiga Launches Embedded Wi-Fi Modules

PR Newswire | 29 May, 2012
Bluegiga Launches Embedded Wi-Fi® Modules for Professional Applications

ESPOO, Finland: Bluegiga Technologies today announced the availability of its line of embedded Wi-Fi modules: Bluegiga WF111 and Bluegiga WF121. The new modules are ideal for embedded applications requiring small, reliable, long range Wi-Fi connectivity in an easy to integrate surface mount package. Both modules utilize Cambridge Silicon Radio’s UniFi® CSR6031 chipset which has excellent RF performance, low power consumption, and compact size.

"Bluegiga is very excited to expand our product portfolio to include our two new Wi-Fi modules. Bluegiga has leveraged its extensive experience in developing robust, easy to integrate Bluetooth modules to create what we think will be a compelling alternative to existing Wi-Fi solutions on the market today." says Tom Nordman, Bluegiga's VP of Sales and Marketing.

Bluegiga WF121 module is a stand-alone Wi-Fi module, providing a fully integrated 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n radio and IP stack in a 15.4mm x 26.2mm footprint. It is designed for embedded applications requiring simple, low-cost/low-power wireless TCP/IP connectivity with flexible interfaces for connecting a wide variety of peripherals. The Bluegiga WF121 module also comes with Bluegiga Wi-Fi® software, a powerful, yet easy-to-use command interface to manage connectivity functions such as Access Point discovery, association and connection establishment. The WF121 also supports Bluegiga's BGScript[TM] programming language enabling developers to embed applications directly onboard the WF121 in matter of hours.

Bluegiga WF111 module is a fully integrated 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n module, providing a low cost, small size Wi-Fi solution for devices that run a Linux operating system on ARM or x86 processors with an SDIO interface. WF111 offers all of the benefits of an optimized wireless module - small size, great performance, and excellent range in cost effective surface mount package.

"In designing our WF111 and WF121 we have strived to create very small, long range Wi-Fi modulesthat provide real benefits for our customers including superior radio performance, reduced design risk, and shortened time-to-market. Innovative software features have always been a hallmark of Bluegiga modules and we believe our BGScript and WiFi software will enable OEMs to easily create winning WiFi designs," adds Mikko Savolainen, Bluegiga's VP of Product Management.
