BANGALORE, India: Calixto Systems, a Bangalore-based electronics product enablement company, today announced that its VERSA families of versatile, small form factor system on modules(SOM) have been extended to include support for Texas Instruments' Sitara⢠AM335x ARM® Cortexâ¢-A8 based processors. This AM335x SOM will enable Calixto to provide a high performance, yet affordable platform for product development. Target applications for Calixto AM335x SOM include industrial automation, Smart Grid, remote terminals, healthcare, handheld point-of-service (POS) terminals and weighing scales.

"TI's new AM335x Sitara ARM generation of processors provides those capabilities at right cost. With this SOM, we also introduced DDR3 memory to reduce system cost and added optional wireless connectivity for enhanced connectivity. The result is high performance, optimized yet versatile SOM, ideal for affordable product development."
The AM335x VERSA SOM includes TI AM335x Sitara⢠ARM processors, DDR3 RAM memory, serial FLASH and optional Wireless LAN (b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0 (using Jorjin WG7311 module). This optimized SOM also provides access to all key processor peripherals through standard "200 PIN SODIMM connector." With this SOM, Calixto Systems is also providing low-cost evaluation modules (EVMs) and software development kits (SDKs) for Linux and other operating systems, such as Android and Windows Embedded Compact (WEC).
