PR Newswire | 04 Jun, 2010
SAN JOSE, Calif.: Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced it received the "Best 3G Communication FPGA Supplier Award" from China Electronic News (CEN) in conjunction with the 2010 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) in China on May 17. CEN's award is in recognition of Altera's contribution to China's telecommunication industry, especially China's successful 3G deployment in the past few years.

Each year during the WTISD, CEN selects companies that lead the industry in innovation or have outstanding market performance in various segments of the China telecommunication market. The awards are determined by a committee comprised of industry and university technology experts and members of CEN's senior editorial team. Members of the selection community voted based on three criteria: technology innovation, market influence and product service.

"Altera continues to provide the industry with a broad product portfolio of FPGAs, which enjoy a significant advantage in innovation and technology leadership," said Ren Aiqing, vice chief editor, CEN. "With its high-speed transceivers, low-power and high-performance features, Altera's 40-nm FPGAs have obtained wide market adoption in China's telecom market, especially in access and backhaul applications. Additionally, Altera has a strong service team providing first-class technical services to its telecommunication customers in China, which is gaining wide recognition in the industry."

"We're honored to receive this award from CEN, as recognition of our performance and focus on China's telecommunication market," said Arun Iyengar, senior director, communications business unit at Altera. "Our broad portfolio of products, including the recently announced 28-nm Stratix® V FPGAs, the industry's highest bandwidth FPGAs, will continue to extend our technology leadership and help telecommunication manufacturers to innovate and win in this fast-paced market."
