SHANGHAI: Global Sources' China Sourcing Fair: Electronics returns to Shanghai, one of China's most vibrant sourcing hubs, after its 2003 debut in the city. The Fair opens today and runs through June 4 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, with more than 460 booths featuring the latest electronic products from Greater China suppliers. The popular Fair is expected to grow substantially in 2011.
Tommy Wong, President of Global Sources Exhibitions, said: "As many local China buying companies have offices strategically located in Shanghai, holding the Fair in this major sourcing hub is a perfect choice. China's domestic market has tremendous potential, with incomes and living standards rising continually, making Shanghai the ideal location for domestic buyers to source efficiently for resale throughout the country.
"According to the China Retail Report, the country's retail sales are expected to soar 79 percent to reach US$3.58 trillion by 2014. China's market for consumer electronics, in particular, is forecast to expand 55.8 percent to a value of over US$200 billion by that year."
Wong added: "Similarly, Shanghai is also an ideal location for international buyers to source effectively from quality China suppliers. As effects of the economic crisis disperse and global demand gains strength, China suppliers are eager to quickly obtain overseas orders to capture market share."
Volume buyers and special programs at the show
Thousands of local and international buyers have pre-registered to attend China Sourcing Fair: Electronics in Shanghai. Among the big names are China Telecom, Haier, Lenovo, Suning Appliance, Hisense, ZTE, Konka, Auchan, Best Buy, Carrefour, Panasonic, Tyco Electronics, RadioShack, Samsung, Tesco, Toshiba, Chubb, Office Depot, LG Electronics and Li & Fung.
Product pavilions at the Fair showcase consumer electronics, telecom and wireless products, computer and networking products, security products, electronic accessories, in-car electronics and GPS.
Value-added services and an informative conference program also make it easier for buyers and suppliers to trade, including:
-- Virtual Product Galleries. These digital product galleries feature innovative products from verified suppliers unable to attend the show. This allows buyers to send direct inquiries on the spot -- greatly extending their sourcing reach. -- Global Sources Show Guide Magazines. Distributed to buyers on-site, the magazine features the exhibitor list and floor map. It also contains a CD-ROM with copies of all Global Sources eMagazines. This one-of-a-kind initiative puts in buyers' hands information on hundreds of additional verified suppliers and their products, boosting the productivity of their show visit. -- Private Buyer Meetings create exclusive opportunities for pre-selected exhibitors to meet face-to-face with some of the world's top buyers at the show. Buyers scheduled to participate include A.R.E.N.A., Intermarche, the Metro Group, Philips and Premier Resources International (buying agent for Amazon.com in China). -- Free Conference Programs feature international experts speaking on hot topics, including strategic advice on buying from China, and market intelligence regarding the electronics industry.
China Sourcing Fair: Electronics in Shanghai opens from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Qualified buyers are entitled to receive free admission and a free show map. For more information about the show, visit the China Sourcing Fairs website at http://www.chinasourcingfair.com.
