Federation
of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), has joined hands
with NITI Aayog for the latter's Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP)
Initiative. NITI Aayog has launched the WEP as a progressive follow on
to the recently concluded Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) which
celebrated the theme of "Women First, Prosperity for All".
The dedicated
cell will provide women entrepreneurs a platform where various
stakeholders will connect to give a boost to their initiatives.
After
successfully partnering for the Road to GES series and a recently
concluded women entrepreneurs' delegation to the United States, NITI
Aayog and FICCI have once again joined hands for the WEP.
NITI
Aayog today announced that FICCI shall play an important role in both,
domestic and international outreach, given the Chambers wide network of
offices as well as fourteen strong chapters of FICCI Ladies Organization
across the country. FICCI shall connect the WEP to women
entrepreneurs, leaders, venture capitalists, academia, angel investors,
etc. from across the globe. For this, FICCI will undertake five
national and three international outreach and networking events
annually.
Through
a joint program, FICCI and NITI Aayog shall provide handholding,
mentorship, capacity building, scaling up and networking support to 100
technology led women enterprises over a period of five years.
FICCI
and NITI Aayog will also undertake policy advocacy towards formulation
of policies and schemes that foster women entrepreneurship by
identifying the existing gaps. FICCI shall conduct two stakeholder
dialogue meetings towards this and submit the recommendations to NITI
Aayog.
"The
Women Entrepreneurship Platform is a collaborative, interactive and
connected initiative to achieve a common goal, empowering Women
Entrepreneurs in the country" said Dr. Anna Roy, Advisor, NITI Aayog at
the launch.
