In a glittering awards ceremony hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry, the apex industry body, recognized top 26 companies across large medium and small segments to be the most innovative for the year 2017. The awards also recognized top 10 innovative start-ups for the same year.

The awards ceremony was organized in Hotel Lalit in New Delhi and was attended by Dr. C Muralikrishna Kumar, Senior Adviser, NITI Aayog; Dr. Naushad Forbes, Past President, Confederation of Indian Industry, Co-Chairman, Forbes Marshall; Rajan Navani Chairman, CII Council on Future Businesses 2017-18 & Managing Director, Jetline Group; Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, CII Start-up Council, Chairman Axilor Ventures and Co-founder Infosys; and Dr Sacha Wunsch – Vincent, Co-editor, Global Innovation Index & Senior Economist, WIPO.

Dr. Kumar, while presenting India Innovation Index emphasized on firm level innovation and its impact on India's GDP.

During the awards ceremony Dr. Forbes mentioned "Innovation flourishes with human capital", he also pointed out that "firms should increase their R&D investments to come up with original innovations".

Industry leaders like Gopalakrishnan urged all the firms to go through the Enterprise maturity framework which CII has developed to measure firm level innovation, and Navani congratulated the winners and hailed the potential of the awards, which starting its journey from 2014 has grown in its reputation every year.

CII Industrial Innovation Awards were instituted by CII in 2014 to recognize and celebrate innovative Indian enterprises across industry segments. These premier awards seek to recognize and honour the Indian Industry's brightest stars and to identify the top Innovative Organizations & budding Start-ups in the country.

This gives an opportunity to them to shine and be known nationally and internationally for their Innovative products and services, annually.
