India's s Software services sector body Nasscom has
expressed hope that the new government to be in place
after the general elections would take urgent measures to push growth of the
small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.
A whole range of policy measures from
the new government should be in place after the general elections to support
the growth of SMEs, Nasscom president R Chandrasekhar said Wednesday, on
the sidelines of the annual ITsAP SME conference.
He also viewed the new government should take steps to help growth of industry in small towns, make it easier to start a
new business enterprise and reduce red tape.
He also revealed that Nasscom
is preparing strategies to tap non-US and non-UK markets like China, Japan,
South Korea among others.
"We have made some studies into these markets. The
government itself had commissioned a study through Nasscom of the Chinese
market," Chandrasekhar said.
According to him markets like
Japan, China, South Korea and some newer and emerging markets have the
potential to go forward though they may look small today.
"These are areas, we are actively trying to
refine our strategy and are working with the companies on refining that
strategy," he added.
He said Nasscom was "refining" those strategies to keep in mind the
nature of opportunity and the nature of particular market so as to build a
win-win partnership.
Chandrasekhar said he expected the domestic IT services industry to grow next
year in the band of 13 to 15 per cent with several companies reporting a
positive outlook for the future.
