The Ministry of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) and its organizations provide assistance to the sector to go international, Union Cabinet Minister for MSME, Virbhadra Singh said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Several MSMEs seek assistance from the Ministry of MSME and its various organizations to upgrade their operations through foreign exposure.

Singh said, "The Ministry and its organizations provide assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises in various activities like Deputation of MSME business delegations to other countries for exploring new areas of technology infusion/upgradation, facilitating joint ventures, improving market of MSMEs products, foreign collaborations, etc."

Participation by Indian MSMEs in international exhibitions, trade fairs and buyer-seller meets in foreign countries as well as in India, in which there is international participation.; Holding international exhibitions, conferences and seminars in India on topics and themes of interest to the MSMEs, the minister said.

The Ministry has entered into long term Agreements/ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several countries for promoting cooperation in the field of MSMEs.

The minister informed that during the last three years, the Ministry has entered into agreements with Arab Republic of Egypt, Republic of Botswana, Republic of Korea, Republic of Mozambique and Republic of Indonesia.

For the financial year 2011-12 the amount of financial assistance extended to Rs. 6.81 crore from Rs. 8.29 crore in FY 2010-11 and from Rs. 6.15 crore in FY 2009-10 by the Ministry and its organizations viz. National Small Industries Corporation, Office of Development Commissioner (MSME) etc. to MSMEs for participation in international events during the last three years.

The Ministry and its organizations has facilitated the participation of MSMEs in 64 international events in FY 2011-12, Singh added.
