Danish group Danfoss Tuesday inaugurated its factory in Chennai for manufacturing two million units of filter-driers per annum to meet its Indian and global air-conditioning market's demand for the component.
In a statement issued here, Danfoss Industries, the Danish group's Indian subsidiary, said the new facility, set up at an outlay of over Rs.17 crore, will be operated as an export oriented unit (EOU) and would increase the group's global capacity for the filter-driers.
Filter-driers safeguard refrigeration and air-conditioning equipments against moisture and other impurities to ensure trouble-free usage and longevity.
"India is a very important market for Danfoss and the opening of this new factory reinforces our commitment to our customers and distributors here and in the Asia-Pacific region. This facility would specifically help Indian customers with better lead time, reduction in transportation costs and dependence on fluctuating currency," Henrik Schurmann, vice president of Danfoss Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Controls in India, was quoted as saying in the statement.
Danfoss started its Indian operations in 1998 with a facility to produce pressure switches used in refrigeration and air-conditioning industries.
